A restored stone house with a pool, a barbecue and room for six, in the hills above Mrouj
L'Arcade is a stone house that has been brought back carefully, in a quiet, private spot in the hills above Mrouj, an hour from Beirut. It sleeps six — a queen bed, two singles and a large couch — and can host a daytime gathering of up to sixteen when arranged beforehand. Inside there is a television lounge, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen; outside, a deck with a pool, a place to lie in the sun, lounge seating, a barbecue and a foosball table.
Guests come for a weekend with friends or a family escape from the city, and write about the charm of the old architecture, the deck and the pool, and Wi-Fi fast enough for several people to work. Zaarour and Faqra are near enough for a day on the mountain.
Check-in is by lockbox, so you are not tied to a time. Parking is at the house.

Good to know before you book
You may cancel free of charge up to seven days before arrival, and everything you have paid is returned to you. Within seven days of arrival the stay is no longer refundable, though we will always look for a way to move your dates rather than lose your visit altogether. Refunds are sent by the same route your payment came, once a member of the team has confirmed the cancellation with you.
A refundable deposit of $100 is part of the total you send with the booking. It is held against damage to the residence or its contents and returned to you, by the same route it came, within 7 days of your departure. Should anything need to be kept from it, we will tell you what and why before we do, and the rest is returned as usual.
House rules
The house and its garden are yours for the stay, and a few things keep them safe. Children are never left near the pool without an adult, and we ask that no glass is taken to the water’s edge. The pool is not used after midnight, when the neighbours can hear it. The barbecue is yours to use; please let it cool fully before you leave it.
We do not allow smoking indoors and we do not host parties. The number of guests sleeping is the number on the booking; a larger group by day is possible when arranged with us beforehand, and never as a surprise. Pets are not accepted.
Please leave the house as you found it and the keys where you were shown. Anything broken is easier to forgive when we hear about it from you first.
Frequently asked questions
How is payment made?
Payment may be made by Whish or OMT within Lebanon, and by Western Union or MoneyGram from abroad. The details are provided on confirmation of the booking and in the accompanying email. Each payment is verified by a member of the Diar team, who confirms receipt in writing. Card payment will be introduced shortly.
Is a booking confirmed immediately?
Yes. On confirmation, the dates are reserved and closed on all other channels. Payment is then due within 24 hours; once its receipt has been recorded by the Diar team, the booking is final and a written confirmation is sent by email.
What happens if payment is not received in time?
A reminder is sent before the deadline. Should payment not have been received when the deadline passes, the dates are released and no charge is made. A new booking may be made at any time, subject to availability.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free of charge until 7 days before arrival, and all sums paid are returned by the same means. Within 7 days of arrival the stay is non-refundable; the Diar team will, wherever possible, propose alternative dates.
Is a security deposit required?
A refundable deposit of $100 is included in the amount due at booking. It is held against damage to the home or its contents and returned by the same means within 7 days of departure. Should any part be retained, the reason is stated in writing beforehand.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in and check-out times are stated on each home's page and repeated in the booking confirmation. Early arrival or late departure may be arranged on request, subject to the day's bookings.
